ARQ International (formerly WarTrauma Foundation) is the international department of ARQ National Psychotrauma Centre, based in the Netherlands. ARQ is world’s largest expert centre focused on the psychological effects of crisis and conflict.
ARQ International works to strengthen mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) for people affected by war, conflict and disaster in low- and middle-income countries. We aim to bridge the gap between research and practice. We do so by building developing relationships with organisations operating at international level and in humanitarian and developmental settings, through developing and implementing projects (on MHPSS capacity strengthening, research and staff support) and by knowledge sharing through our networks as well as the journal Intervention.
Decades of experience
ARQ International has access to a group of over 30 ARQ colleagues with high level clinical, psychological training and/or research expertise in international humanitarian and developmental settings.
We strive to ensure that every person in the world can fulfill her or his right to a humane existence after war, crisis persecution or violence. Therefore, ARQ aims that the psychosocial impact after crisis and war is part of all (health) programs in humanitarian and development settings, rolled out by organisations and donors worldwide.
Quality and accreditation
ARQ National Psychotrauma Centre has a strict quality policy and is ISO 7001 certified (international quality standards) and NEN 7510 certified (most stern way of data protection). Furthermore, ARQ works according to the standards of National Action Plan 1325 Women, Peace and Security.
